A quote

A quote for all my online friends:

"Back in the fifties when all the women were, like, burning their bras for the right to vote or whatever".

This was said by a guy on the train who had just been talking to an old crazy man. This is how the original conversation went:

Old crazy man: Nice day today, eh?
Young stupid man: Yeah. Great out (he was reading at the time).
O: Do you mind if I ask what you're reading?
Y: No, it's a textbook.
O: Oh. What do you study?
Y: Computer Science.
Me: GAAAAAAAAAGGGGG! Computer Science is brutal! Poor guy! (in my head)
O: Oh. I employ a lot of computer scientists.
Y: Oh yeah? Doing what?
O: I'm the idea man.
Y: What do you mean?
O: I come up with ideas and I get paid for it.
Y: Wow. That's pretty cool.
O: You ever heard of the internet?
Y: Yeah, we study it.
O: I'm still waiting for my money on that one.

And I figure he'll be waiting a long time. Anyways, after the old guy got off the train, a friend of the younger guy sat down and that's when I overheard that gloriously hilarious quote! I just couldn't believe it and was so excited I wrote it down on my article that I was reading!

I'm going to try my best to round up all the quotes I've written down in the last couple of years and I'll try and share one here every once in a while. I love seeing comedy like that everywhere. Life is just so much fun.

Anyways, I wrote my 421 final today and then I handed in my 475 take home final! I thought about going home to work, but figured I'd get more work done here. And it was a good day! After I dropped off my stuff to Dr. Wong, I went for a swim and then came down here to work after I had something quick for lunch. Gosh was I ever hungry! Anyways, so I was working away and I was having a bit of trouble with one of the articles so I sent my prof. an email asking her if she would be here today. She said she was here right now and so I went up to see her and then I ran into Linda!!!! That means I saw my three favourite professors from my whole university time all in one day! Dr. Wong, Dr. Wallace and Linda are easily three of my favourites of all time!

Anyways, I should get back to work on these notes for my final essay in work (Dr. Wallace's class). I have notes to write about 4 more articles, I think and then up to 10 pages to write! Here's hoping it goes well! And I REALLY REALLY hope I can do killer on this one like I did the first one, not just decent like the second one! I know I shouldn't complain about 80% (and I'm really not) but it does hurt a little after getting a 95%!!!!!

Enjoy your week everyone! In 3 days, 0 hours and 28 minutes I can say goodbye to this whole semester!!!

Oh, additionally... Layne and I are going to try and convince Brenda that we could have a Head Shave event at the mall! Layne and I would both shave our heads again! I think that would be great fun!!!

What if firefighters ran the world?

AHHHHH....

I finished the assignment that I was looking forward to the least (my Greenfingers movie review), and I think I did not do it as well as I should have! Anyways, I don't care anymore... it's been handed in already! Just 4 more things left! And I've taken down all the notes I need for the next thing I need to hand in, so that's good!

Today me and Nattie finally went to Oh Canada! It was actually pretty good, except that they put BUTTER on their MONTREAL SMOKED MEAT sandwich! That is totally unnatural and sacreligious and I did NOT enjoy it. Otherwise, it was fairly delicious! And they served a pickle with it which was delicious, the fries were quite good and the coleslaw was also good! Coleslaw is so underloved and I COMPLETELY loved mine today! Mmmm mmmmm mmmm! I was very Montreal-an, I even ate my french fries with mayonnaise! I think they do that in Montreal! I hope to go there someday soon!

And now, to share the inspiration for the title of this post! It's Sprint's latest Nextel commercial (YOU MUST CLICK HERE AND WATCH IT, IT'S HILARIOUS!) and it's just great! And so true!

Anyways, enjoy your day/ night, I'm off to write about the "dark side of transnationalism"!

On my mind......

Well, here we are. Only a week left of classes and it'll be over for a beautiful 2 weeks or something! For some reason, the ends of semesters make me think think think. I suppose this probably happens to a lot of people, but it happens to me too, so I thought I'd write about it.

I think the centre of my big debate about what to do after this degree is finished is "how can I actually do something useful with my life". And please, please, noone say having babies is the best way to do that because that is NOT what I mean (though this is what my mother thinks it means to do something useful). I don't want to waste my life in a sunny office with a couple of plants and a never ending/never changing workload to shuffle through. As much as I LIKE sunny offices and plants and that kind of always-the-same work stuff, because it's easy and whatever else.

Grad school would be so much work. But what if I could do it? And, really, what if I could do it and I DIDN'T. I really don't want to move away and I really want to get something going here, like a house and whatever else, but what about grad school. Do I think I could do it? I really have no idea. I haven't the slightest clue what it entails. But really though, what if that's my chance to do something useful. Teachers do useful things too, though. I wonder how long an impact like that lasts though, and the thing I love most about tutoring is when you get to talk to them like a real grown-up person with interests similar to yours (which never happens because I tutor MATH) who actually care about what they're learning (hasn't happened yet, but I've felt close before. I will really know joy when someone thinks math is "cool" or something, which will probably never happen).

Anyways, I've been reading articles for my term paper for Soci 475 and thinking about how cool it would be to meet some of these people who wrote these papers. Specifically Morton Weinfeld. I'm pretty sure he works at McGill though, which is far away (and I'm not ridiculous, so clearly it won't happen). It would be cool to know what their lives are like.

Anyways, I think I might try and take a journalism class or two. Do they even offer that at U of C? I'm not sure. We'll see though. I'm really happy that I accidentally saved all my options until my last year though, so I can explore! FUN FUN FUN! :)

Anyways, I'll continue pondering while trying to get my term paper done without all of my resources that I stupidly left at home (gosh darn). Maybe that's why I ponder, because there's so many papers to do and I need something else to think about! :)

So close and yet so far...

I'm so very excited today for the end of this semester. Today I feel so VERY excited because I REALLY want to move out.

My mom opened my mail yesterday. I just hate it when they do that. My mom has said before that she opened Molly's mail thinking it was my dad's, but there's seriously no excuse for opening my mail. Noone else in my house has a name like me. Whatever. It's just dumb.

Anyways, on to happier news! The night that I wrote my last post, Lexi had the babies! They had 2 boys, Levi and Tristan! And today, my Baba called to let us know that my other cousin, Sheryl had her baby girl! Her name is Eva! Soo soooo cute I think/hope/know for the boys! I'm psyched to hopefully see them in the summer!

We did the consultants' challenge on Tuesday at school and I had a great time! We got some questions and some data and just had to answer the questions as best as we could. It was a great time! Me and Seychelle worked on one major question and Aliece and Matt did the other! It was a great time! I think we did a good job, but it's impossible to say for sure, of course!

Anyways, that's really all I have to post about!

And for the first Flames/Sharks game in these playoffs..... Flames: 3, SJ: 1 (so far, almost at the end of the second)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only 14 days, 17 hours, and 17 minutes left until the end of exams!
